After getting punched for no apparent reason on his way home from school, Miranda's friend, Sal, decides he needs some space. Mysterious notes start appearing soon after that, and Miranda has to reconsider what she thinks she knows about people and events that have occurred.

Miranda's experiences with Sal, Annemarie, Julia, and Marcus reminded me of all the complexities that occur when developing friendships in middle school, and although I grew up in a small town in the eighties and not NYC in the 70's, I totally connected with what she was going through. This book was a fun read with the perfect amount of science fiction thrown in. Twelve year old me thinks everyone should read this book, and when you're finished, reread A Wrinkle in Time. Why? Because it's awesome, too.
