hey now. this is a good book. i look at it as an extra-gone with the wind, not a continuation. i get annoyed at people who think that it's impossible to improve upon the original version just because someone else wrote it. for one thing, the original was basically a long history lesson on the civil war. now, i don't know about you, but i know a lot about the civil war and while it may have been nice to read that stuff before i learned it to give me a head start, reading it in the middle of this sweeping epic saga was downright distracting.
the sequel didn't do that at all. is that what people found lacking with this book? i don't know. i really loved it.
