it was ok
bookshelves: boooooring, never-trust-popular-opinion
Read in January, 1998

Reading Valley of the Dolls in my early teenage years made me feel mature and wordly, like when I read about 99 ways please my man in Cosmo, but one can't truly appreciate a trash-tastic icon like this before learning to appreciate unintentional humor.

I can't see myself seriously reading this book today. I'd hate the characters, and besides, I now tend to watch my guilty pleasures rather than read them: Spending 60 minutes with Rachel Zoe or the cast of Gossip Girl (season 1 only, before it got crappy) is acceptable, but books are for making oneself more smarter.
