it was amazing

This was an excellent book. I learned a lot about the last century of Chinese history. The author and her family lived through unimaginable upheaval, terror, and hardship. She really sought to understand the motives of Mao and his commanders. It left me feeling very confused about the views held by modern Chinese who didn't live through the Cultural Revolution. It is something I plan to learn much more about.
