I was surprised by this book. The Lion House is a historical restaurant in downtown Salt Lake City. I have never eaten there but was curious about the type of cuisine served and if it had a "historical" flair to it.

The recipes were amazingly simple, basic recipes. Even the most elementary cook could use this recipe book. It covers all of the course types and had a good range of soups and vegetable recipes...and as a nice twist, lots of zucchini recipes which makes it an indigenous cuisine for Utah. Speaking of indigenous, there were lots of jello recipes as well! The mormon flair speaks from the book.

There is a good section of salad dressing recipes and the dessert section is loaded with simple comfort desserts like pies and oatmeal cookies with ice cream.
