really liked it

I had a moment of "what critically acclaimed books have I not read?" and picked up White Noise. It was written when I was in high school, yet remains frighteningly relevant 20 years later.

Centered around a small town college professor, he navigates daily life with his modern family. Step children, ex wives, self doubt, odd local characters, destructive events.

The book is a statement on the contemporary world. What icons we look to, what fears we have, everyday mundanity and progress for good or bad. I liked it. It was a different way of exploring common themes.
