Because this book is available in print and for purchase, GNL has to jump through a few hoops to make it work legally - like never mention Harry Potter, any of Harry Potter's characters, Hogwarts, or other common phrases like "Muggles". It is, at times, cumbersome, but not too much to be problematic.

The storyline is very unpredictable, and enjoyable - so I won't give anything away. But the story opens with Petra at home after graduating from her unnamed school of witchcraft and wizardry, wrestling with very dark thoughts...

The tone GNL takes in this short YA fantasy novel is something like a mashup of Roald Dahl, JK Rowling, and Robin Hobb - very different from his "James Potter" series.

This novellette should prove that GNL is a literary force in his own right, and deserves to be read the world over...
