Fun book to read. The good points: The characters were interesting (and even more so when I finished reading the book - you'll have to read it to find out why!), the setting was, in a word, delicious. The description of gadgets and technology was thrilling, and the scene of violence was gory and fascinating all at the same time.

What kept this book from getting 4 stars from me (more of a 3.5) is that the mystery itself didn't have much "meat" to it. There was only a small portion of it that I didn't guess about halfway through the book. There was no great "ah-ha" moment, and I do so love my moments in books like these.

But, overall, a satisfying introduction for me into the Steampunk/Scifi genre of books and I will definitely check out his next one in the series.
