So, what did you think about BP? I thought it was all filler no juice kind of installment. My least fave VA book.

I'm disappointed because Richelle wrote herself a loophole to the Dimitri being strigoi problem. Here's the deal. I happen to like Adrian. As a matter of fact, I've liked him from the first time he called Rose 'Little Dhampir' and showed up in her dreams (Is it bad that I kind of want her to make babies with Adrian?). And while I like Dimitri, I still like Adrian more (besides, he's a little more age appropriate).
But I think it's safe to say it's obvious why Adrian is still in the story--and no, it's not so he can date Rose. Adrian's power is Spirit, and Rose needs someone who controls Spirit to heal Dimitri. Lissa can't do it since she's already done it with Rose (or do I not remember the sub-plot from Blood Promise correctly? Didn't that girl wig out because she's brought too many people back from the dead? I can't remember anymore).
So basically my theory is Adrian's going to heal Dimitri because he loves Rose so much. Also, I'm ticked Rose really thinks Dimitri's life (or lack thereof) is worth breaking Lissa's power hungry Uncle out of prison. How could she ask Lissa to help her do that? Isn't she being a little--or a lot--selfish?
But seriously, I'm sad that Adrian and Rose aren't really going to be anything, other then really good friends (even though in the first chapter of book #5 Rose mentions she's 'kind of' Adrian's girlfriend. I know its going to be short-lived). I really liked how much Adrian's interest in Rose ticked off the Queen.
Oh, and it was obvious from the start that Ibraham (how does he spell it? Abe? Abraham??? I can't remember. Maybe I should reread the book. Or not.) is Rose's father. I knew it from the beginning. The Queen actually says his name--Ibraham, right?--in the third book. Rose isn't a stupid girl, so why didn't she figure it out?
Well, I happen to like Dimitri, so him being strigoi didn't really bother me:) My main problem with VA is that originally it was supposed to be a 5-book series, and then it got extended to 6, but I don't think RM had enough story for 6. Therefore BP is filled with so many memories and so many new (unimportant) characters. And I hated, hated that Rose spent half of the book in Lissa's head. I thought it was a cheap way to deliver Lissa's story line.
I'm weird. When I'm reading a book with a love triangle I always cheer for the underdog. Always. I don't do it consciously, I just like the underdog. Or maybe I don't like being manipulated into liking the 'sure bet' more. Which is why I'm thinking Peeta's done for in the Mockingjay. I like to think he somehow has a fighting chance with Katniss but seeing as I've been cheering for Peeta from the second he joined the story, it doesn't bode will for him. My approval is like the mark of death.
Oh no, I so hope you are wrong about Peeta! I always cheer for the main guy (it just happens, I don't do it on purpose). And I love, love Peeta, I'll be distraught if something happens to keep. Gale can go.
I don't care for Gale. I mean, sure he's nice but in my mind he's more like a cardboard cut out, especially compared to Peeta. I'm sorry but Suzanne Collins hasn't written enough Katniss/Gale scenes for me to be convinced otherwise. I've read Catching Fire four times trying to see if there are any clues that indicate that Peeta is actually The One, and Katniss is just really confused. So far all I've got is the fact that Peeta's character is more important then Gale. Even Katniss knows he could do more for the resistance then she could. Sure she's the Mockingjay but Peeta is a natural leader and universally liked. I think President Snow even likes him (which could be a very bad thing).
Also, Katniss mentions the only time she's ever felt 'that thing' (oo-er)--meaning desire--is when she's kissing Peeta. But she's only felt that way twice. Once in the cave during the 74th Hunger Games and again on the beach during the third quarter quell. She's never felt that way with Gale, which is insanely strange, don't you think?
I agree, Gale was never developed enough for me to fall for him, although some of my friends actually managed to work up some Gale love. And yeah, Katniss is really confused BF-wise, but I kind of understand it because with so much stress she is under, no wonder the only thing she can think of is survival, hers and her family's.
I really love Peeta, I think Collins developed him very well. In fact, sometimes I think Katniss doesn't deserve him.
And wouldn't it be tragic that he dies after being kidnapped in CF? If I have to pick someone to be sacrificed in the revolt, it would be Gale and maybe Haymitch. I like them both, but not as much as I love Peeta.
