One of my all-time favorite books (though the movie did not do it justice), and the one that catapulted me into the fandom of McCarthy; I have almost never been disappointed in one of his efforts in any of the genres he has taken up. How he doesn't have the Nobel, I am not sure. His prose and storytelling far surpasses that of most modern writers. It feels fresh, the language compelling and beautiful, the story hard, like the world his characters inhabit. I practically gave up food and sleep to continue reading it.
