Although this book started out slow in my opinion, it definitely got better as I kept going. The entire book is composed of letters - mostly to or from Juliet Ashton, an author who is trying to come up with a topic for her next book. It takes place not too long after WWII, with the German occupation of the Channel Islands of England being the main subject of the plot. Once you get used to reading letters, it is actually interesting and makes for a unique way to tell a story.
