Not really a sequel or a prequel to Oryx and Crake this is more of a companion book. Set in the same near-future world with many of the same characters, this time the "waterless flood," a genetically engineered plague that decimates the human race, is told from the point of view of the God's Gardners, a neo-hippie survivalist cult. The future Atwood creates feels all to near when you read the news these days, and the richly detailed settings in both the Pleb-lands and the Corps makes this book a scary but satisfying read.
