The vertical line scheme was evident when flipping through the pictures of “Once a Mouse”. The colors were rather bland, black, brown and white, and boring other than the slight use of pink; however mixing the color pink and brown was not aesthetically appealing. If the book was more modern and published in the 90’s or later the color scheme would definitely be changed. The illustrations were different than any other I have seen. Some of the pages used blank white spaces on a pink background to get viewers to see the empty white space as something important like the tiger. The feeling of the book is really rough and old because of the age of the book as well as the style of the artwork.
