Would recommend: Yes

This is the sort of book that made me want to curl up in a blanket with an unhealthy snack (this time around, a handful of white chocolate chips) and savor it. Not every essay was exactly to my liking, and some of them have an oddly bitter feminist tinge, but the good thing about essay collections is that you can just skip what you don't like.

My favorite pieces:

- "Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant," by Laurie Colwin
- "The Legend of the Salsa Rosa," by Ben Karlin
- "Out to Lunch," by Colin Harrison
- "White-on-White Lunch for When No One is Looking," by Anneli Rufus
