I'm not rating this book, because I think it deserves two different ratings for me. For children (for which the book is intended), I think it is an interesting read. For me, I think it is simply "okay". I listened to this on CD in the kitchen (I am loving my Kitchen CD player). It was a good book to listen to in that way, as it was simple (not hard to keep track of the plot while doing other tasks). I thought I had read this book before, but I couldn't remember. After starting this book, I remembered having read this book once (or maybe even twice) when I was younger. It is an adolescent book. Perhaps it held a little less interest to me because I had read it before or because it is for younger readers. It does promote thinking about the decisions we make as a "community," so I think it is a good book for children to read and discuss.
