Read from June 18 to July 07, 2010

This was quite good. I was wondering what the big overall plot was going to be, but realized that it was a series of connected smaller plots, with our "heroes" having to figure out how they were going to come out on top of what was going on in each of them. I loved the feel of the book, with the Egyptian culture coming through. It's obvious she did a lot of research and fortunately it comes through in the writing and not in a "this is the research portion of the book" kind of way.

Kei I agree! I loved this novel and after I read it, the events stayed with me for awhile. Moran has a way with her writing and I felt pushed into ancient Egypt. I felt involved with the events like I was there, lol. I also agree about the way she wrote her research into the writing without having a set aside "prose-like" research paper, which I have seen so many other writers do. She's a historian and a professor. I'm sure that has a lot to do with her skill at meshing history with story-telling. I emailed Michell Moran and she emailed me back. She was cordial and welcoming which made me love her even more as an author. So now, she has become one of those writer's whose work automatically captures my attention.
