This was a book I read in school, possibly grade five. It was the first thing I had read about WWII, and I still cannot hear the name Warsaw without thinking of this book (word association/memory?). I liked reading as a child, so reading assigned books in school was like a bonus on top of reading my own books, so this book has all good memories for me. I was amazed at the children living in the ruined cellars and making their way from Poland to Swizerland to find their parents. Bravery and sibling comradery-under-great-hardship was a theme that stuck out for me.
