Anathem took me three weeks to read. It is a bit over 900 pages, so you don't want to drop it on your foot. People were constantly commenting when they saw this book, saying things like, 'wow, that's a big book,' so if you want to impress people at Starbucks, this is a good choice.

As to the book itself: I really enjoyed it. The first chapter was tough going, but once I got used to some of the language (Stephenson makes up a number of words), it was clear sailing. Stephenson is a funny guy, creates interesting characters and the plot kept me guessing. Anathem does slow at spots, and some of the book's philosophy was a bit abstract for me.

Overall a great read.
