This is the third book in the Bayern series by Shannon Hale, and if you loved the first two, this one will not disappoint. The focus of this book is Razo, which I found refreshing. Most of the books I read have strong female characters, and I really enjoyed reading one where the main character was a boy.

Like her other stories, it is a coming of age tale where Razo has a lot of growing up to do. He travels with others from Bayern to Tira, a neighboring country that (if you remember Book 2) just recently lost to Bayern in a war Tira started.

It is another wonderful fairy tale/magic story that will be interesting and safe to young and old readers alike.
