This is a great book for anyone getting a dog for the first time, or for anyone who really wants to learn how to raise a well-rounded, well-trained dog. The book describes simple ways to teach your new pup basic commands. It also describes a method of general training called umbilical-chording, which sounds amazing! You won't have to lock your puppy away in its crate all day to get your work done; you'll still get your work done while knowing that the puppy is learning how to follow your lead, expending his puppy energy, developing a deeper bond with you, and not getting into any mischief.
