bookshelves: realistic, humor, teen-books

I love Stargirl for so many reasons. Singing Happy Birthday to your classmates while playing the ukulele takes a lot of courage no matter who you are! And how about the spare change idea. It's genius. What are you going to do with it? How fun to know that leaving it for someone else to find will likely make their day. She is my hero! One of the many themes/lessons in Stargirl: It doesn't take a lot of effort to make a difference in someone's day or maybe even their lives. You just need to change your perspective and learn to look at the big picture. It's not hard to see and meet the needs of others if you keep your eyes and heart open. This book is highly recommended and on many school reading lists.
