Read in January, 2011

The novel's messages of human nature, the loss of innocence and the savagery of man are much the same and just as powerful as Heart of Darkness by Conrad, but the language, symbols and allegory make for a much simpler read. The story is not an optimistic one, yet one that needs to be told.
