Growing up, Betsy and the Great World was my least favorite because it took Betsy away from Deep Valley. Perhaps now that I am grown up and have traveled to some of these places myself, I have a deep and abiding appreciation for it. My only criticism is that I wish there were more description of her time in London and less of Germany! Of course, the last chapter is the best of all!

So, what's the story? Are these new editions? It looks like they combine 2 books in one. Do you recommend this format?

These are beautiful new editions in trade paper, with new introductions and back matter. You should snatch them up but not peep inside until you have read the earlier books. The idea is that some adults will be drawn to Betsy's high school and older experiences because they enjoy coming of age novels, in the tradition of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn or Charms for the Easy Life, etc.
Okay, good to know. I put them hold on amazon.com and I think I'll go ahead and order. Thanks for the info!
I ordered them! Super excited to get them! And I think this will motivate me to get to the others in the series so I can read these! My daugher and I are reading Charlotte's Web, but she wants to read Betsy, Tacy and Tib next :-)
I wish you were close enough to attend an event. There is one scheduled for Dallas but I know that is not next door.
