Summary:
This is International literature, set in Malawi, telling the story of Binti and her family. Binti is the "child star" voice of a radio program in her town, thinking highly of herself and her accomplishments. Her mother has died years ago and ironically, her coffin-building and selling father gets sick and dies of AIDS, too. This event splits her family apart, as her sister, brother, and herself are sent to seperate extended family member's houses. This story defines the meaning of family, as Binti fights to bring her family back together again!
