This is the first Rachel Morgan book by Kim Harrison. Rachel a witch runner is fed up with her job at the IS (Interland Security). She decides to quit, taking their best employee with her. A death threat is called out on her and she is on the run in Cincinnati. Moving into a church with a living vampire and pixy family she stumbles her way along. Trying for the big fish, Trent Kalamack, she gets into trouble and finds out too much information about his secrets. With the introduction of a human in the mix, the book ends with an uneasy truce with Trent, the IS death threat gone, and a demon mark on her wrist. This was a delightful, rich story and I highly recommend it to anyone.
