Molly Williams always shared baseball with her dad. He taught her the rules, the lore, and how to throw a trick pitch, the "butterfly ball". Since his death six months ago, Molly and her mother have been trying to find their places in their new family structure. Unsatisfied with Girls' Softball, Molly realizes what she needs to do: try out for the school baseball team. Molly's grief and growth are explored in short chapters that keep the story moving forward. Well-developed characters and a balanced mix of action and introspection make this a stand-out title.
