This book was one of the most difficult for me to get through EVER! It took me an entire MONTH to read it! (I usually read a novel in about 2 days or less)

I just could not get into it like I wanted to. The story is a good one but the desolation and continual pain this family suffers is so difficult to read. I enjoy a book where I can mentally be either a character or a fly on the wall. I couldn't do either with this book.
It comes down to me not really liking books ~Fiction or Non-fiction~ that have NO bright side or happiness in them. I would pick this book up and after about 30 min of reading I’d have to go read something else to get me out of the depression Angela's Ashes threatened to bring on.
