Late Night Boyfriends is an exciting anthology of 13 gay vampire stories. Each author presented a fresh new take on the vampire mythos yet overall the collection of tales weave well together. The vampires are a mix of good and evil, many breaking all or some of the urban legends surrounding vampires. Ranging between 10 and 20 pages, the stories are short and the authors manage to spend little time with exposition, instead the stories move on at a quick pace.

The anthology's first story, "Slave" by Ryan Brixton is one of my favorite, though "Attack", "All in your head", "Second Chance" and "Secrets" were also enjoyable reads. "Slave" follows Zac who has become enslaved by a dangerous and cruel vampire. Zac's is cut off from his life to serve the vampire, but on his birthday the vampire allows him to go free for the night, but the evening leads right back to the vampire's home and comes to an exciting end with a sudden twist.

"Secrets" was one of those short stories that feels like snippets from a much larger story. The vampire has so much more to tell, a byproduct of century old vampires. Aiden loves Kyle and Kyle loves Aiden, and both are hiding secrets. It takes a short while before the reader discovers the secrets and the struggles each character faces in coming to the truth. The vampire is revealed and eventually the truth comes out. The mortal struggles with his own past and future before making the right decision.

"Attack", "All in your head" and "Second Chance" are three takes on becoming a vampire unknowingly. In "Second Chance", the vampire is established early on but his boyfriend is not as accepting of the change. "Attack" is a quick and sudden hit to our main character. He soon harnesses his newfound power and fights for what he believes in.

Overall this is one of the best collections of gay vampire short stories to be released in a long time. The stories are fresh, exciting and all come to satisfying endings. A few of the stories felt rushed and while they came to tidy resolutions, hinted at longer ongoing tales. But not a single tale ended with me not knowing the outcome, being satisfied or feeling like that author could have finished the story differently.
