An unbelievable novel. A non-stop parade of depravity and horror and bloodshed that impossibly never loses its impact. Extremely readable and completely fascinating. Yeah, it's pretty grim, but this is no piece of easy Bleak Chic designed to bum you out with simplistic quick nihilism.

I haven't been so impressed by a novel on a first read in years. I want to read it again almost immediately, but will probably have to recover from the first read for a bit. I doubt I'll be able to shake this one for a while.
