This book is written in a streamlined unadorned prose. I read it in two sittings. It's about a Catholic family growing up in Hermosa Beach, Ca. It covers four generations and the secrets and drama that develops with each family member as the years and decades unfold. It is at once an illumination of the love that binds families together and the heartache that pulls them apart. A very good story.
