I enjoyed this book overall. Can't deny that it's depressing but you also can't deny that it has an interesting twist on narration and the first line is very hard to forget. It's one of those books that immediately pulls you in.

I loved that with Suzie as the narrator, we're able to follow all these people that her life was touched by - the good, the bad, and even those she didn't know so well. I loved that it felt real the way each member of her family reacted - so differently, but still all full of grief.

My only real complaint was that the first 200 pages spend quite a bit of time in the first year or two and dealing with her murderer and then it simply moves so fast for the remainder of the book and the way her murderer ends up in the end is almost poetic, but you wish for more for the family. I guess that's life though, right?
