Read in September, 2009, read count: 10
I loved this story as a little girl, a middle-schooler, a teenager, and I still love it to read to my first graders. I love the friendship that develops between Charlotte and Wilbur. Charlotte is smart as a whip and will easily put you in your place, but she is also gentle and kind. There are a lot of good lessons about being kind, thoughtful, a good friend and believing in your self. However, I have never found it to be too preachy. I have also found my students beginning to use more expressive vocabulary because of this book. Love this story!
