It's true that this book is full of unnecessary perverse details. And that alone could be reason to avoid this book. But aside from that this book is also just plain awful. Nothing good happens in this book. The life of Elphaba is a complete and utter waste. She fails at everything she does and her life ends and it's good riddance. There aren't any likable characters. There aren't any great plot twists. I kept reading just hoping that something interesting would actually happen, but it doesn't. It is a sad, miserable, depressing book without any redeeming qualities. And on top of that is full of stupidly unnecessary perverse details.
