This was a clever mystery that tied into an event from book one. It explored 19th century chinese culture in London and you learn about a lot of characters: Berker, Ho, Harm. The beginning, as in the last book, was an event at the end, that staged the rest of the story. I like that technique quite a bit. I wonder if he'll make a habit of employing it in the coming novels. I think it would add symmetry to the style of the series.
