this book is a great introduction to an unsung hero of the Civil Rights Movement. while i knew Claudette Colvin preceded Rosa Parks in challenging segregation and getting thrown off a Montgomery bus, i wasn't aware of her pivotal role in Browder v. Gayle. the book is set up in a familiar DK/National Geographic sort of way, with vintage photographs both of the time and of Colvin. it has extensive interviews with Colvin and other leaders of the time. a great profile that will hopefully resonate with America's youth.
