Nouwen is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. He consistently speaks to the places in my heart that are most in need of the Truth. In this book, Nouwen looks to the Desert Fathers for insights on the values of silence, solitude, and prayer. While I disagree with some of his conclusions about silence, the book as a whole ministered to me greatly, and his message is a poignant one for a culture so devoid of silence, solitude, and prayer.
