Ruby is a rebellious teenager living in the WWII era near the stockyards of Chicago. She decides to take up dancing with lonely men for money, which of course is a hop, skip, and jump away from pushing her into other activities with lonely men for money. All of her thinking rings true, and while Ruby may not be the nicest girl, she is a believable girl. Her new life starts to catch up with her, and she starts to understand that you can't turn back the clock.
