If you look past all the sex in this book, which is a major theme in it, it's a well-done coming of age story. The "wallflower" is a teenage boy, and he's a really likable character. Teens and even adults who like to read will appreciate him as he comes out of his shell and begins to "participate" more. Unfortunately, the world he's participating in is anything but innocent; drugs, homosexuality, abortion, molestation - it's all in here, and it's written about as though it's the norm in today's high schools, which, I fear, may be true. It's sort of like Catcher in the Rye set in the 1990's.
