Ms. de Jesus journal revealed life in a Brazilian favela. After reading this book, you will not complain about your life. Ms. de Jesus was a strong, independent spirit. The lack of food, her living conditions, and caring for three children did not deter her from providing for her family. She earned money for her family by collecting paper and scraps of metal. But there was never enough food to feed her family. Sometimes the children ate food out of garbage cans.
As a child, I can remember my father telling me I should be grateful when I complained about dinner. We need to remember we are truly blessed and have an abundance.
