This is the true story of Chris McCandless, who left his former life behind to hitchhike around the west and finally end up in Alaska, where he starved to death. It is all the reporting that Krakauer did on the story and is very thorough and interesting. His own story about his experience climbing in Alaska was my favorite part of the book. All in all, a heartbreaking tale, but very well written. In a way, we all can identify with it.
