    <body><![CDATA[I read this in about three days -- the totally engrossing story of British expatriates and some wealthy Chinese living in Hong Kong during and after WW2. Almost gave it 5 stars but didn't because, while it's a well-researched and written book with a gripping story, it's not exactly a life-changer. I'll save 5 stars for life-changers. ]]></body>
