really liked it

Gloria Naylor does a great job in making this book as realistic as it could get. The Women of Brewster Place is a book about 7 characters. And it focuses on how these characters come to live in Brewster Place. A housing development in a city that doesn't even have a name. The first character and story of this book is of Mattie Michaels. Then Mattie's friend Etta Johnson, and also Kiswana Browne, Lucielia Louis Turner, Cora Lee, Lorraine, and finally Theresa. All these characters have two things in common. They all are seeking of a better life and all of them want to run away from their current lives. A theme that i came up for this book was that a home could go so far to determine someones life and dreams. By this i mean that based on these 7 women a home could really dictate your life by who you are sorrounded by. And it really creates a fantasy of a better home which is naturally or in most cases a fantasy and a dream of someones life. All in all, the Women of Brewster Place is a good book because it shows a side of the human which is desire that most books dont show or talk about.
