I am very taken with this book... I discovered it while looking for YA fiction books on the topic of pirates and was really intrigued by the idea of 1920's Chinese Pirates. I love the historical details, the illustrations, and the maps that are included to make the entire book appear as an archival account of events. I also really love how the author created realistic inventions for the story (including the chemical element... so realistic, I had to look it up to see if it really was real or not!) I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
