it was amazing
bookshelves: summer-books

The end of the story...is always the worst since the story is so intriguing. Although the author has always warned the reader not to go on, despite it all, we decide to venture on. Thus comes the fall of the reader due to "the end." It really may be the end to a fantastic series of stories. This book was just as great as all the other ones, lacking nothing and asking for continuation.

Having left the hotel and their fallen comrade, they felt extremely guilty. Landing on an unknown island, the threesome are welcomed by Friday while ignoring Olaf. This is not uncommon since Olaf has always been disliked. With that, they meet Ishmael who seems to be in charge on the island. Still, a man with feet in clay is extremely suspicious...correct? Unable to give up their talents and breaking the rules, the Baudelaires keep their secrets to themselves. Although Ishmael always gives out *ahem* "suggestions," when the people follow, they increase to the level of commands.

While their are several problems, the Baudelaires like detectives in every case, solve this once more. The scene where they finally realize the cure and what everyone's been up to is my favorite! Without all the secrecy, perhaps every child's life would have been much easier but then again... there's no such thing. Ease in life is incredibly rare due to all the hardships people give one another.

Having finished this case and yet another fallen comrade they had to let go of, they spent not the rest of their lives on the island. After a few years when even Sunny had grown enough to talk more, they headed off like the rest of the islanders had however long ago...
