I really wanted to like this book as it had some nice historical details as seen through the eyes of the protagonist who was an indentured servant in 18th century Massachusetts. However, far too many pages were wasted on vacillating mental monologues which are fine once in a while but not throughout the whole book. It was very difficult to understand the character's reasons for her actions when she didn't appear to understand them herself, or her reasons kept changing. I prefer characters which are more decisive and oriented.
