A novel for readers who love beautiful writing, romance, classic cinema, and stories about different forms and levels of love.

The author is a poet first and a novelist second (if I've understood correctly), and her fascination with and love for words shines from every page. So while I couldn't quite believe an 11 y.o. would think, for example, of towels as "hydrangea blue", I was pleased to add a new word to my own collection ("frangible") and I adored sentences like:

"...what is surely a universal truth: jimmy Stewart is always and indisputably the best man in the world, unless Cary Grant should happen to show up."

"Instead of sounding harsh, her expletives streamed like little silver bubbles in a fish tank."

"No one plans for her life to become the plot of a Bette Davis movie."

I am so happy that the sequel to this story is already published and I can plunge straight in.
