7/09 Written in the early 80's this book became important as a transitional piece of scifi. It may have been one of the early looks at a matrix and artificial intelligence emerging from the internet. The book presents a view of the future that is filled with off world dynasties and enclaves of people types on earth. I struggled to connect to any characters in the book. I found myself disengaged at times and not really caring what happened because the characters didn't matter to me.
