[Note: Required reading, Bible Exposition 101.]

Oletta Wald’s work on the inductive Bible study method is more of a workbook than a standalone textbook. (To be fair, she does note that she is “indebted in a special way to Professor Robert Traina, whose book Methodical Bible Study is the basis for this manual.”) Her short volume is driven by procedure and fails to dive deeply enough into any aspect along the way, in particular the interpretation step. The many lists that appear throughout also hamper the fluidity of the material. While the book may be useful as an introductory reading to help believers see the purpose behind and importance of Bible study, readers are much better off spending time in Traina’s standard text on Bible study methods and hermeneutics.
