really liked it

When I saw this book in an airport bookstore, picked it up for two reasons--it was a Nevada Barr book and the picture of the wolf on the cover. I have always enjoyed the fact that her books are set/involve a National Park. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more about the wolves, but overall, I still enjoyed the book. Nevada Barr's description of the extreme weather at Isle Royale National Park in the middle of winter was very well done. There was a little more graphic violence that I hadn't been expecting, but I did like Barr's bringing attention to and dealing with a pretty hard subject like violence against women, as well as playing up the importance to preserving wildlife (I really loved the Forward, from which I learned a little more about the Winter Study done at ISRO). It was predictable in spots, especially with her getting hurt/injured--something that I wish didn't always seem to happen in the novels.
