This is a pageturner. I didn't realize that Oppenheimer was such a commie before he turned all patriotic while working on the Manhattan Project. A complex human being, to say the least. The book is very well researched and written. My only complaint is that it barely mentions the substance of Oppenheimer's scientific work. The authors clearly aren't science people, so it makes sense, but I wouldn't have minded at least an appendix on how the atomic bomb works. Anyway, a totally compelling story, though depressing.
